We are Herman and Ruth Moseley and have lived at 146 Raccoon Rd. Roanoke
Rapids NC since July 1985. We have two children, David and Lisa who have married
and blessed us with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Herman managed
Moore's Building Supply, in Roanoke Rapids, for 25 years and retired in Dec of
2003. We were married in Dec.1960 and ever since I can remember Herman has
always been helping people, so when we started RV traveling, after his
retirement, he still wanted to help people and we decided the best way to do
that would be to get involved with disaster work. We went to Lady Lake FL. in
Feb. 2007, after the tornadoes hit, and inquired around until we ended up at the
Operation Compassion tent where we worked for nine days, cooking for the
volunteer workers and tornado victims. That is where we met Bro. Charles Atkins.
With his help, we hosted a Disaster Training Camp in Roanoke Rapids, in July of
2007 and formed the Roanoke Valley Chapter of D.I.R.T. We have cooked behind the
tornadoes in Lady Lake, Fl., Mt. View, Ar.,and Suffolk, Va. We spent 18 days in
Cedars Rapids, Iowa cooking for the volunteer workers and running a warehouse,
distributing water, cleaning supplies, food and personal items to the flood
victims. We also do fundraisers for needy people, and do a little catering. It
is such a blessing to us to be able to help those with such great needs and in
turn God has blessed us with great friends and now this beautiful D.I.R.T.
Kitchen. We are proud to be working with Bro. Charles and Sharon and pray that
God will continue to use us to help ease the pain and needs of those who suffer
in such tragedies.
